Our Journey & Legacy
First published as a weekly newspaper on August 19, 1970, Syandan Patrika transitioned into a daily newspaper in 1974 to meet the growing need for timely news coverage across the region.
Founded and managed by the veteran editor Subal Kumar Dey, it has remained a hallmark of honest and fearless reporting for over five decades.
Editorial Policy & Values
At the core of Syandan Patrika is a politically and economically liberal editorial stance. We are widely recognized for our anti-establishment tone and our persistence in carrying out impactful investigative journalism.
One of our major landmark campaigns contributed directly to the passage of the national Right to Information (RTI) Act of 2005.
Operations & Scale
Our news operations are supported by a strong team of over 60 journalists and 15 photojournalists within Tripura state, overseen by Photo Editor and Manager Arindam Dey.
Headquartered in Agartala, we maintain offices in major Indian hubs, including:
- Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai & Bangalore
- Guwahati & Ahmedabad
- Kanpur, Pune, Punjab, Haryana & Uttarakhand
Television Broadcasting
Continuing our commitment to mass media, the Syandan Group of Publications expanded into television broadcasting with the launch of Syandan TV on January 17, 2022.
As the sister news project of the newspaper, Syandan TV carries forward the same ethos of public advocacy and critical investigative reporting.
